내용	미국 상표 출원을 하게 되면 심사에 의하여 거의 대부분 문제점이 없이 등록이 이루어지게 되면 Principal Register 라고 기록을 합니다. 그러나, 일부의 경우 향후 식별성이 인정된다거나 조건부에 의한 등록이 이루어지게 되는 경우가 있습니다. 이런경우에는 - the Principal Register with a Section 2(f) claim of acquired distinctiveness, or - the Supplemental Register. 하는 표현으로 사용하여 데이터베이스에 기록이 됩니다. 이에 대한 영문의 간단한 설명 내용을 부가하오니 참고 바랍니다. The Principal Register is where most marks are registered. The Supplemental Register exists to allow registration of marks that are not distinctive but are "capable" of becoming distinctive. Principal Register marks which have acquired distinctiveness through long use are registered based on a claim under Section 2(f) of the Lanham Act. Usually, at least five years of use is sufficient to support a Section 2(f) claim. Registration on the Supplemental Register does not bar later registration on the Principal Register once the mark has become capable of distinguishing the owner's goods or services from those of others.
